In my head I'm 19.

I still love the things I love,

Feel uncomfortable in crowds,

Feel overwhelmed by animal cruelty,

And want to be liked.

Well, maybe not as much now.

I don't really care about that as much.

Do I?

But my body insists that I'm 45,

And perimenopausal

With the Seven Dwarves of

Sweaty, Worry, Hungry, Tired-y

Weepy, Itchy and Angry

Riding my back

Every day.

I never know who's going to turn up.

I think they conspire against me

And decide amongst themselves

In their creepy little gang

Which of them can cause the most

Annoyance today.

I'm not their Snow White.

But, I'm the Wicked Queen

And I have weapons:

HRT, exercise, drawing,

Writing, laughing

And music.

So clear off you little hormone devils.

I'm winning today.

About the Creator

Deborah Robinson

I'm new to the 'writing for real' scene. Previously, I've kept my poetry and writing under wraps in a fancy notebook, but now I've decided to give it a proper go!

I hope you enjoy my work.

Thanks, Deborah.
