So many people around the world
Are truly obsessed with the score
They get: in life, in love, in fame
Sometimes, occasionally in disdain
Points go up, and their winners rejoice
Satisfied by their gainful choices
While certain leave with regrets
They’re mostly assured ‘bout what they’ve set
But for every winner comes a loss:
Some large, some medium, and some very small.
Accepted with both grace and fear
They don’t always mean the end is near
Ultimately, the score will change
From weeks to months, even day to day
Don’t be confident that your start
Will define the rest of your life’s art
