Preface: I am Irish and I am making attempts to learn and speak my mother tongue, Irish/Gaeilge. As such, I would wrote the following poem in both English and translated it into Irish. Due to Vocal guidelines, only the English version is available. The full version is available on Mediun and Substack. Enjoy.

The Saint

From the Earth she comes,

And to the dirty she returns,

Forever and ever,

And ever and ever,

Until we leave.

And from the men,

She stands again,

Forever and ever,

And ever and ever,

Until death.

But into the sky,

She'll never go,

Forever and ever,

And ever and ever,

Until she allows it.

Getting through that vocal filter when its acting up is a challenge. But what I really wanted to ask you is how long you've been learning Irish?

  • I think as long as there's the English version in it, you can also post the same poem in another language in the same piece. Because I've seen people do it like that. Loved your poem!
