The Rose and the Bird

Love poem

By Jamye SharpPublished 10 months ago 1 min read

You are so beautiful,

Delicate in every way,

From afar I saw your loveliness,

Scent to drive tears away,

Yet you are free and I must stay,

The sun I cannot chase,

Wind in my wings shall never be,

Only thorns beneath the smiling face,

Free I was until I saw you,

Roamed afar but nothing to compare,

For many a day I will stay,

Behold my perch is always near you,

But I must go one day,

Every slip of time a petal,

And can you say you will always love me,

When all has passed away?

We are only here a moment,

All winds and roads alike,

If we must away when days shall fail,

Yet still for you I will stay.

So beautiful. Love the symbolism you used of the time and flower pedals. Excellent poem.
