The Road Through Shadows

The road was never golden-paved,No lanterns lit the way.Only echoes of the steps I braved,Kept the night from turning gray.

The storms had names, each one I knew,Whispered harshly in my ears.Their howling winds and skies so blue,Turned my courage into fears.

I stumbled where the ground had split,Fell where silence loomed. The weight of sorrow, deep and thick,Left my spirit bruised and doomed.

But deep beneath the dirt and dust,A spark refused to fade.A voice within me whispered, 'Trust,'And light began to wade.

Each step was forged in agony,Each breath a silent scream. But pain became my melody,And hope my steady beam.

The walls that loomed so high and grim,Cracked beneath my will.Through shattered stones and broken hymn,I climbed the steepest hill.

The dawn arrived, but not with ease,Its light was faint and shy.Yet through the gaps, between the trees,I saw the endless sky.

My hands, once weak, now strong and firm,Reached for stars once lost.No longer bound by fear’s cold worm,I crossed the bridge I crossed.

Now standing where the echoes fade,I see the past below. The road still whispers where I strayed,Yet I have learned to grow.

For hardship is a teacher wise,Though cruel in every test.Yet those who face the shadowed skies,May find the stars shine best.

So walk, though night may stretch so long,Though doubt may cloud the way.For even in the weakest song,There dawns a brighter day.
