The Road Behind
The future may have mountains, but there's meaning in the path you've already conquered.

I may not be as calm
or peaceful as I should be
I may not yet be
the surface of the bay
on a windless day
perfectly tranquil
like glass shimmering
in evening sunlight
I may still overreact
creating disturbances
and send ripples
crashing into waves
I’m still not yet
to the place I want to be
but I’ve come a long way
from the girl who wept
turning puddles into oceans
every time something small
went suddenly wrong
there’s beauty in a journey
just like they always say
those old words have worth
it’s not too soon to appreciate it
when you’re still on your way
