The Red of You

You're the color of everything I never knew I needed.

The Red of You

you're a bloom that caught me off-guard,

petals unfurling in a state of pure bliss,

and I found myself in your sly glance back,

that mischievous grin telling me more than words.

you're a fine wine best sipped in small doses,

each taste lingering a tad on the tongue,

and I found myself in your heady thrills,

that laughter bringing shivers to my skin.

you're a sky tinged with rose-colored clouds,

gusts of wind breezing through without fail,

and I found myself in your easy manners,

that voice of yours telling me to take warning.

you're the fury without the follow-through punch,

always ready for a knockout blow without hurt,

yet I find myself hit again and again and again,

all because you're the red that lights my blood aflame.
