The Rainbow

While dancing along the rainbow

I stumbled on blue,

In my thirty seventh year.

It made me stop,

To acknowledge the depth of its colour.

Determined to show me,

How very close navy is to black.

Making its point,

I come back from blue changed,

Experiencing red, and yellow now

Like never before.

I shake blue off and

Continue to dance,

Forever changed.

More tolerance for those

Who experience blue

Longer than I did,

More understanding,

No matter where

They are on the rainbow.
