The Rain That Drowned the Sea
This isn't how life is supposed to be

The Rain That Drowned the Sea
The rain that drowned the sea fell hard,
Not gentle, not healing, just endless and dark,
It hammered the waves until they broke,
And silence rose where sirens spoke.
Boats lay still with broken names,
The tide forgot its ancient games,
Salt turned bitter, sky turned black,
And nothing that left ever came back.
The sea once sang with pride and storm,
But the rain came cold, without a form,
It filled the deep with weight and fear,
Until the sea was no longer here.
Fish swam upward, lost in grief,
The surface gone, the depths too brief,
Even the moon refused to shine,
On water stripped of shape and line.
And when it stopped, the world looked on,
The sea was quiet, the coast was gone,
And no one asked how rain could be,
The thing that drowned the mighty sea.
Luckily it was just a dream,
A nightmare meant to make you scream,
The poem’s world was never real at all,
Just a strange thought, waiting to crawl.

Loved it, Marie. I liked the image, it is like what I see from my window when the winter storms roll in.
Definitely one to make one think about nature and what nature can do in some various situations. Good job.
Thanks 🙏💙💙💙
Miracle!!!
