The rain came down in a lazy way

singing a soft song on the tin roof of the little porch above us

we cuddled up close under an old fuzzy blanket

reading together but no match for the rain-song singing off the roof

The rain fell heavier as we flipped pages

the spring-green field with all the bright yellow dandelions splashed across its acreage, a gentle contrast

we worked our way through the story we were reading together, sleep slowly crawling in

you curled up close, head on my lap at first

Your little half-smile as you read and listened to the rain, prettier than any spring field

and when you laid your head on my chest, I couldn't help but kiss you

darlin, I love it when we melt into one another, holding each other close as the rain sang us to sleep

just a gentle little nap, as the rain wrapped itself around us

Darlin, I love you so close our souls touch, I love the feeling of us melting into one another

we cuddled up close under an old fuzzy blanket

and when we woke from the nap, the rain had sung its song

the sun splashed the spring-green field and smiled on us
