The Quiet Evolution
A Path of Inner Transformation
In a good state of life, the self does not gaze upon the other but bears the other within as a landscape. As long as I evolve the better. Most other factors will just fit right into the mold that you have created. Instead of envying others, and growing green with jealousy, wherever and wherever one is, it has always been better to learn something new. "
Only when a person rises to a more or less decent level things around HIM will begin to ‘wake up’ and his living conditions will change for the better too.
It’s only when you expect to be your best that you will work hard to be a better person; and it is only when you are willing to be a better person than you were before, that you strive to move up the ladder of bitterness. So, do not set the bar too high and focus on the details and process at each stage. Other people’s actions are irrelevant; they have nothing to do with you.
Some people say that when a person reaches a certain age, he must throw away four things: purposeless parties, people you don’t care for, distant relations that make you feel inferior, and fake friends.
But you must have four things: it is the confidence that adorns the face as well as the hope that is engraving the spine in the life, the kindness that develops into the heart, and the strength that is being imprinted in the blood.
Can you have poetry and distance if you don’t survive the days when no one cares about you? One must also be able to accept the times of rising as well as the times of downfall and be wiser by it. Thus, in the last instance, life is a fight with one’s own nature.
That is why water is transparent, not because it does not contain impurities, but because it is sediments.
It is not that the mind is transparent because there are no distracting thoughts; it is because the mind understands the choices.
Thus, the best state of life for a person is the constant development, expanding circles of companions, deepening of exciting reading and knowing how to give pleasure to oneself, filling one’s heart, burning desire for life, courage to remain an enigma and let all come contrary to one’s wishes.
As it is often said in the sacrament of baptism, over time you are transformed from being harsh and frail to being soft and powerful, from being who you are not to turning into who you wish to be and then leading the sort of life that you dream.
