In the shadows deep, where my thoughts entwine,

A realm unseen, in my human mind.

Whispers haunt, both dark and wise,

The confusing mix of truth and lies.

≈ ≈ ≈ ≈ ≈

Echoes resonate, where fears take flight,

In the darkest corners of the endless night.

Emotions struggle, a cyclone roars,

The battle waged forevermore.

≈ ≈ ≈ ≈ ≈

Mirrors fractured my reflection is shattered,

Lost within, my mind's dark matter.

The rise of demons, secrets untold,

Complexities of an ego's hold.

≈ ≈ ≈ ≈ ≈

A tapestry woven with threads of thought,

Into the abyss, the soul is caught.

Soft whispers escalating to loud screams,

Reality distorts, unraveling dreams.

≈ ≈ ≈ ≈ ≈

Beneath the surface, a void yawns,

Where sanity wanes and reason spawns.

A tangled puzzle, a maze of abandon,

Yet brilliance is born from the depths of distraction.

≈ ≈ ≈ ≈ ≈

In this darkened dimension, courage takes form,

Breaking chains from a raging storm.

The psyche's canvas of strokes untamed,

Creates a beauty from what is not named.

≈ ≈ ≈ ≈ ≈

Intense and intricate, my thoughts may be,

Yet within these verses, my mind can see.

A confirmation of strength, in darkness we find,

Where the simplicity of love has the power to bind.

≈ ≈ ≈ ≈ ≈

spent many hours trying to fine tune this one. It's not perfect and I can probably work on it for another 5 hours and it still won't be perfect. But maybe that is a reflection of our human mind.

Phenomenal work! ..with a lot of meaning. This line held many for me “Yet brilliance is born from the depths of distraction.” ☺️👏 Congrats on this piece!

Human beings are complex critters, indeed 💙Anneliese

  • It seems paradoxical, but as I've said before: there's way more inner space than outer space! A labyrinth of Daedalus though it may sometimes be! You expressed it well here!

  • Congratulations on Top Story🎉

I don't think it needs tweaking. I think that you have captured the ruminations and insecurities that we all struggle with perfectly. One of the best poems I have read on Vocal. Congrats on a well deserved TS. And that's a great hat.

This was great, I think so anyways. I have been writing poetry myself, and I am trying to get to a level like this. I am still a work in progress though. Congrats on top story!

Perfection is overrated. From the heart is what matters. Your struggle for inner strength and peace is human and makes one a better person. Deep and heartfelt story.

This drew me in immediately. It kind of pulled me to song circles I sat in on when camping at a festival. Late at night, I can imagine this being read out loud to entranced silence. Awesome piece!

  • Someone once told me “Done is better than perfect” And it really helped me let unperfected works go much easier! This is very well done though! I think it definitely did not need more work. Thanks for sharing Rick ❤️🙏 I especially loved the third verse (mirrors..)

  • I think it is really good the way it is
