The Proper Way of Goodbye
A poem for the challenge
The proper way to disappear requires a simple skill
The goal is never about leaving no trace, its about leaving memories, objects or sentimental things behind
For the price of love is pain and a toll we must pay to our loved ones before we go
Remember the 5 senses those will be our gifts left behind
A photo of your best smile one where you shined gently yet brightly.
A small light to glow in the darkness of your absence A t-shirt with your scent or favorite perfume attached to it so the smell of you never fades
Your favorite recipe with hand written notes throughout so they never forget what it meant to taste life beside you.
Drinking you in even when you are gone
An engraved handprint so they can always remember what it felt like to grasp your hand.
Just as when a newborn reaches out for their mother's hand, life even after death.
Last but not least don't forget to leave a voicemail reminiscing about your memories with them.
Like catching up with an old friend you haven't seen in years.
Because sometimes we don't have a choice in disappearing, death comes for us all anyways
Just as the price of love is inevitable pain so is the price of life the existence of death.
This is my guide to perform the greatest disappearing act
Knowing when you take your final bow at the end of your show
That you gave this life everything you had and left behind a legacy to guide your loved ones In their grief
