The Power of Love

Choosing to Love Your Enemies

By Jazmin FernandezPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Love your adversaries, the Bible advises—

a challenging command in these tough times.

Though it's difficult to forgive when we've

been harmed, love is the solution and life itself.

To put oneself in another's shoes, to be merciful

and gracious, and to turn the other cheek.

Because hate just breeds hate and causes

destruction, whereas love can offer

healing, joy, and peace.

We release the bonds that formerly

bound us when we choose to

love everyone, even our enemies.

We choose to be free, to open our hearts,

and to let love be the key, so we let go of our wrath.

Love is a force that can overcome all obstacles;

it tears down barriers and empowers us to stand up.

In order to see our enemies in a new light,

let's choose love in everything we do.

recognizing their suffering and problems

but also showing them love in the same

the way that we do.

As we are all ultimately one,

when we love our enemies,

we have already triumphed.

This speaks to the transformative power of love and forgiveness. It encourages us to let go of anger and hatred, and to choose instead to love our enemies, even in the most difficult of circumstances. This reminds us that love is the only way to truly conquer hate, and that it has the power to heal wounds and bring peace to our hearts.

By choosing to love our enemies, we break down barriers and allow ourselves to see them as fellow human beings, deserving of compassion and understanding. Ultimately, the poem inspires us to embrace love as the key to a more peaceful and harmonious world.

Peace- Jazmin
