The power of colors and Minds

Your true colour truly lies within yourself

By Kei JacobsPublished 5 years ago 3 min read
Only together we will ever outshine the rainbow 🌈

It was in that moment I knew,I've done something wrong but I was in too deep

As she stared at her reflection in the mirror

She kept looking for a person she can't seem to find.

Being unable to accept who is infront of her

Just as If she was delusionally colour blind

She took two paces back I thought she was about to run from herself

And she stopped!

She walk cautiously forward the mirror touching her face, watching her hand,as if she was seeing someone else

Her head dropped!

This was a real moment of shame with no-one but herself to blame

She lived in a small village where there wasn't much hope.

Where darker colour was undermine and the lighter skin was at the head of hierarchy  scope.

Even the prime minister was white not just like a local white, it was brown straight hair, light brown eye, with a Mitchell Jackson nose and smooth skin, just like the movies and her country worship him like the pope.

She grew up thinking alot. Always aiming for the top

maybe one day she can be a prime minister too

She closed her eye as she envision colourful butterflies, as she felt a spider run across her toes which was normal in the old creeky house , which somewhat made for think of octopuses and she thought she had a clue

What if

What If I can change just little bit

What if I can be a little bit fairer, so when I stand in this house with no electricity I can lit

Her grind was as if she was in a teeth commercial as she shake her head side to side her big brown eye open wide

and her mind just keep rolling with bright ideas but  those of a 5yr old child

What if it was me dancing inside that black and white TV

Maybe I  can be as colorful as Joseph coat.

Or become so pretty that they call me the village rainbow, oh yhhhh as she giggles as if it was a joke.

So the journey began it was a very long

So expensive, she felt like giving in but she had to be strong.

Days turn to weeks, weeks turn to months but it took her years to realise those colorful ideas were all wrong.

Until one day she look at herself in the mirror

It was in that moment she knew, I KNEW I've done something wrong but I was in too deep .

If these were my ideas, then maybe I was clueless

Sometimes society put you down make you lose yourself and feel hopeless

And people who were cheering me on they were truthless

And the ones who spoke the truth I thought they were ruthless

Sometimes a good ideas are not better and sometimes not best

I feel like I'm a tree in the colorful garden of Eden but I'm hollow and I'm fruitless

In every religion this must be a sin

For one to change the colour of their skin

Just to feel some sense of belonging

Well if that was true and then the sky wouldn't be blue, it would have been clearer

Maybe the yellow bright sun would have been fairer

Even our star at night would have been transparent

What would you then call a rainbow  if the colours were translucent

Everything is has it own beauty so wake from false pretense.

The Moleskine have books of many colours bright strong and captivating too

Black being the most popular colour and the most sold out that true

So if others can love your colour tell me what's the matter with you?

Tell me black try to be white ,white try to be black, now we'll influence yellow. If pink tries to be brown then a disrespect to albinos.

Oh what a chaotic tomorrow !

So be true to who you are because we all have our own unique glow

The way you love yourself is how your true color show.
