The Policeman Who Walked Me Home
50 years ago and still we love each other so much ❤️

The Policeman Who Walked Me Home
The policeman who walked me home
It was love at first sight
His steady step beside my own
A quiet calm that felt so right
No words were needed then
Just knowing in that night
The stranger’s eyes, the way he smiled
Made everything feel bright
He held the streetlamp’s gentle glow
Guiding me through dark and cold
And in that walk, a seed was sown
A story yet untold
He asked my name, I told him slow
He laughed and said his too
We reached my gate, he tipped his hat
And said, I’m watching you
The days rolled on, he passed again
We talked a little more
A gentle hand, a softened voice
Was knocking at my door
He came for tea, then stayed till late
We didn’t want to part
A badge and cap, a nervous man
But brave enough to start
He wasn’t tall, or loud, or bold
Just honest, kind, and true
He walked me home, then walked with me
Through everything we knew
We married in the summer sun
With daffodils in bloom
He wore his suit, I wore my smile
And love lit up the room
Now every night, we talk and laugh
Like lovers always do
The years have passed, the world moved on
And still we love each other true
