The Pink Girl

a poem.

I was pink,

And she was purple

Together we would rule the world.

I liked spring,

She loved fall

We’d both laugh at nothing at all

.

Way too often

The storm clouds came

She'd stay at mine

Big words and bad sounds.

We had only just turned nine

.

I held her umbrella

While she walked the dog

Our gumboots all muddy

While our minds played in fog

.

Then the day arrived

Where her dad had enough

Said they’d pick up and leave

And I knew our time was up.

.

We could’ve written

Scribbled thoughts to see the world

But nothing could top it,

So I let the purple paper curl.

🤍bittersweet memories of a childhood friendship that ended too soon

It is a very interesting poem and is an absolutely beautiful, nostalgic reflection on friendship and the innocence of childhood. The imagery of ''pink'' and ''purple is wonderfully symbolic, capturing the uniqueness of two individuals coming together.

Why did the purple paper curl? Was the dad being over protective!? Great poem! Fantastic!
