The Pining Moon

If the sun and moon were lovers

In an endless chase

the sun and moon

gravitate

like in a race

*

They sweep the heavens

as they dance

a mesmerizing

obsession

*

The moon will hide

behind the world

like a girl who

shied

*

The sun will court

with warm and light

revealing her

every night

*

We, mere humans,

watch along

as these celestials

begin to long

*

For years they wait

to one day be

and what a sight

they create to see

*

An eclipse is how

they describe the event

which perfectly

represents

*

Because in the word

there are "lips"

and they do, in fact,

kiss

*

Their moment lasts

a few short minutes,

because love always

has its limits

*

But their spell cannot

be undo

and so they run

and chase anew

*

*

*

This has been in my drafts for far too long, I think, during the dream poem challenge? I can't recall. But I finally finished it and decided to publish :).
