The Path of Sacred Surrender
A Mystical Ghazal by Shah Nimatullah Wali

Shah Nimatullah Wali, a renowned 14th-century Persian poet and Sufi master, was known for his deeply spiritual and love-infused poetry. His verses often reflect the soul’s journey toward divine love, where the seeker loses all sense of self and is absorbed into the beloved’s presence. In this ghazal, he describes how those who behold the beloved’s face are rendered speechless, those who step into love’s path abandon all worldly attachments, and those who truly surrender find every place transformed into a sacred sanctuary. The poem beautifully captures the essence of mystical devotion and transcendence.
🌿 Whoever gazed upon your face, lost all control,
Whoever walked your path, surrendered their soul.
💫 No heart clings to this world once knowing you,
Whoever drank your wine, shattered sorrow in two.
✨ Without you, O comfort of my soul, what is life’s worth?
Whoever spoke of your love, embraced madness from birth.
🌙 Neither shrine nor temple shall shelter my heart,
Wherever your fragrance lingers, a sacred place shall start.
