The Passion

The passion between two lovers

We come out of love

as from an air catastrophe.

We had lost our clothes

the papers

I was missing a tooth

and you had lost track of time.

Was it a year as long as a century

or a century as short as a day?

By the furniture

by the house

Broken scraps

glasses, photos, books stripped of leaves.

We were the survivors

of a collapse

of a volcano

of the snatched waters

And we said goodbye with the vague sensation

of having survived

although we did not know for what.
