The Painting

Poetry

By CordellPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

You love roses

You have tattoos of them everywhere

So I painted one for you

You said your mom hung it up

A painting of the sun and moon

You made for me

But split in two

Was it a harbinger

A sign of things to come

Foreshadowing our future

Like the sun, you rose and set

Like the moon, you phased out

And I, stood and watched

As the lunar eclipse took over

We met on a supermoon

Was it written in the stars

Or was it just a teenage wish

I can't help but wonder

If my painting still hangs on that wall

Yours hangs in my heart

And also in that box in the back of my closet

heartbreak

Hey Everybody!

I have loved writing poetry for a long time, but I have never shared any with the world. Receiving feedback and comments would be amazing so I can continue to improve on something I like to do.
