The other side of Midnight

Conceal the masks we wear

By Antoni De'LeonPublished 3 months ago β€’ 1 min read

By day I wear my untrue face, a blank screen

Unseen in light

By night my true self emerges...masked.

Find me dwelling behind the curtain darkly

Encased in black cloaks of mystery

Within the other side of Midnight...

Where no one knows my name.

In veil and shadow, where serpents tempt,

There, I cling to the last Vestiges of light

as I slither betwixt the slivers of night

Where fangs lunge forth...thirsting

Eager - my flame to extinguish...I bite

My Evil consumed soul grins beneath the mask

Watching me Sip the fruit of the dark vine

My Black sins awaken - Rising slowly...to

The other side of shadowy night

Where Forever lurks, and...

Evil blooms unholy.

I dare not remove the mask...

Dare not expose my shame

I must stay hidden...for tomorrow

I wear a different mask

Returning to sin once more.

My damnable shame forgotten.

In this state of mystery

God and the Devil vie for my soul

Sadly, I may already be lost to the dark side

Masks of temptation thrill me so

I fear I shall remain here

On the other side of midnight

Behind a mask which clings...Darkly.

We all wear many masks in living in our lives, but at times it seems like we forget our real selves. Good job.

  • We all wear masks to hide what we dare not share, excellent take on the challenge
