The Open Door
The Bacon Cat Legging Society
I'm shaking off the rust
ratteling my bones
trying to break open the cage
that encloses my soul
so I can retrace the steps
that will lead me back home
to my reflection.
There are treasures still kept there
gathering dust
dreams about people
and places I've loved
it scares me to think
of what I've denied
by building this haunted collection.
Will you stay here awhile
as I go through these shelves?
One by one slowly finding myself,
as the rust turns to stardust
and dreams turn to love again.
I've already lost so much
How can I fear now
what I might win.

Wow
I find the last two lines SO interesting! It gives me that sensation of being both excited yet fearful of what may come, cause it might be bad ... but almost just as scary sometimes, it might be really good! Great piece! 🩷
