The Ones Who Crave

When Desire Becomes a Cage, and Love the Captive

For the ones who crave what they can't possess,

Who ache in silence, who want nonetheless.

Whose hearts reach out to things far and wide,

To love that flees, to dreams that hide.

They whisper wishes into midnight skies,

Clutching hopes dressed up in lies.

They say, “I’ll have it — even if I break,

Even if I bend, even if I fake.”

They build castles in their minds,

Chasing shadows, tracing signs.

Sometimes it’s not about what’s real,

But just the hunger they long to feel.

So they trap love — in glances, in games,

In half-spoken truths and whispered names.

They lock the doors with trembling hands,

Writing stories fate never planned.

And maybe one day, they will succeed,

They’ll hold what they once only dared to need.

But when the fire finally cools to dust...

Will it be love — or just possession and lust?

So ask them gently, look in their eyes —

Is getting what you want worth all the disguise?

Because sometimes what we chase to own,

Was only beautiful when left alone.
