THE ONE

by: adaiah kirby

By ak Published 4 years ago 1 min read

i know the lovers are calling me,

i’ve learned to tune them out.

in my life i am leaf,

flowing in the wind,

at a steady paste,

enjoying THE ALL.

if i listen to the lovers’ calls,

i’d be a leaf,

now stuck to branch,

being pushed and pulled by the wind,

but going nowhere.

violently.

seeing nothing but my lover,

minimizing THE ALL down to their size,

growing tired of love as the days went by,

until my heart was finally swallowed,

by entrapment and doubt.

so i’ve learned to tune the lovers out.

instead,

i’ve given my heart,

to my journey through THE ALL,

and the perfection of what’s in store.

though i’ve been told by many souls along the way,

that as inevitably,

as the sea meets the shore,

down the road,

there will be one lover,

and they will call out to me,

with a song,

that my soul won’t be able to ignore.

it will take hold of me with heavenly ferocity,

and i will see THE ALL,

like i’ve never see it before.

in a whole new light,

lit by love,

with greener pastures,

and whiter doves.

this will be THE ONE

they’ve said,

and through the beauty of us,

i’ll learn the true beauty of THE ALL.
