The Night Your Eyes Were Glassy

By Dee ShafferPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Help me.

I know you don't want me to cry,

But you left me.

You left me forever.

The night your eyes were glassy

I knew it was soon.

The night you gasped for just one more breath of life.

Just before I felt the coldness in your hand.

I felt you leave the room.

It was the end of your suffering,

The beginning of mine.

Then you were just there.

I touched you...but it was not you.

I touched death.

The night your eyes were glassy.
