The night the moon cried

The night the moon cried gossamer teardrops

The night the moon cried gossamer teardrops

Floating down from the heavens like raindrops

Dressed in heartbreak, reaching out to touch

Chilling me to my core, this hurts overmuch

The night the moon cried drops into the ocean

As I struggled to swim, bogged down by emotion

Stars glittered brightly overhead as I sank down

The steadfast sky ignores my pleas as I drown

The night the moon cried for the death of love

Stories lost in the stars, winking from above

Broken dreams shattered across the universe

Hunger for things unattainable is the curse

The night the moon cried, I collected every tear

How foolish I was to think that you were sincere

Untethered to this earth, unwelcomed by the clouds

Forever hidden by the moon’s tearful shrouds
