The Night Didn’t Come

The earth never slept the day lasted forever

The Night Didn’t Come

The sky held its light too long,

as if the sun refused to leave,

shadows stretched thin but never deep,

and the air grew strange with waiting.

Windows stayed open to brightness,

lamps untouched in their corners,

moths circling, confused,

searching for a dark that never fell.

I walked through the garden,

watching flowers droop from heat,

birds restless on branches,

their songs slipping into uneasy quiet.

Time seemed to bend without evening,

hours melting into a single glow,

the horizon stuck in a pale pause

that made the earth feel hollow.

No stars arrived to guide me,

no moon laid her silver down,

just the stubborn light,

and my shadow that never slept.

why? Because the night time didn’t come.
