The multi-colored woman

A she series poem

By Mikka HendraPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

They want her to be one thing.

A non-threatening, easily understood and categorisable thing.

But she is not one thing.

She is many things. A multi-coloured woman.

And the expression of one, does not mean the absence of another.

A woman can be simultaneously maternal, corporate, liberal, loving, selfless, sensual, strong, soft, confident and sensitive.

Her authentic expression is not yours to judge, be triggered by or misinterpret, but one to admire, applaud and watch in awe.

It is the embodiment of her courageous divine feminine showing her light, exposing her true self in an unsafe world. In the hope of being a multi-coloured example, speaking to the light she sees unlit within others too.

So next time you see a woman expressing herself, and you feel something other than respect and encouragement, take a dive into your shadow and shine a light on what she is triggering in you.

With love and compassion, seek why you’re projecting it onto her by wanting her to be minimized to that same and safe “one thing”.

Because it may just be for your own comfort and refusal to grow, and ultimately the stagnation of the multi-coloured woman.
