the mouldy rags of poverty

on my mind

each month blood falls mercilessly from her body, an uncompromising crimson mess of disappointment being expelled with each moon cycle,

rags are sacrificed from the few clothes she has left, clothes already ingrained with mould from this deathly and humid atmosphere,

mould she breathes into her lungs, her body

mould which decays and rots her from the inside out

parasitically devouring all that is precious,

and soft,

and pure,

within.

those rags interrupt the flow of bloody mucus from cascading down her porcelain thighs,

from discolouring everything she makes contact with, from exposing the turmoil within, outwith

they could be washed and reused, only they cannot dry without sun,

and there is no privacy for her or her bloody rags to hang on lines,

and so they are burned in the fire to keep shame from her mind,

the currency she receives is exchanged for the fruits of God’s earth, intended as her gift to humankind, but sold by demon men of a capitalist mind,

leaving woman in a bloody poverty of only her kind

This is powerful and affecting Kayleigh! Top job. 🙂👍

  • This is such a heavy topic and it hit so hard! Well done, dear friend!

  • Raw, hard-hitting and necessary. Thank you for taking on this topic.

  • This hits so hard, though makes me think of the French take on the stars and stripes, and a similar subject , hope you can see it here https://www.google.co.uk/search?sca_esv=576defc6cbcbf2da&sxsrf=ADLYWIKqmdeRGpUQ2-u9wp_LwAIfXOuk0Q:1721311175051&q=abortion+stars+and+stripes&udm=2&fbs=AEQNm0Aa4sjWe7Rqy32pFwRj0UkWd8nbOJfsBGGB5IQQO6L3J_86uWOeqwdnV0yaSF-x2jo6Ttnu6iRjjgGjARfLolnBYg2tMdxbJFpG2a0dg6n0NSOUeL_Zp-ANwJjueSBq_UoE1Rqmx1qtxWQlddKd0bEv4-fvXrL1UXtmb7rYJIBkr79X849_zmlFz-2AGdL47Zwhhols&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiC34vp37CHAxXYWUEAHekVCmwQtKgLegQIFBAB&biw=1352&bih=630&dpr=1#vhid=QwWF0mVjYHjCzM&vssid=mosaic

  • Wow! Amazing! Even though I can't relate to that aspect of womanhood as a trans woman, just so good! 🩷

  • Well this was a well crafted, brilliant rage for a bloody good cause; the picture was what made me stop to read. We need you on the front lines Kayleigh!
