There was an old mirror in Liberty Hall
A magical mirror that hung on the wall
We heard it was special for only a few
Reflecting an image that nobody knew
Now let me be honest and perfectly fair
Most often I saw only me standing there
But every so often it offered a gift
A much older person that gave me a lift
When fearing I couldn’t, he told me I could
If feeling I wouldn’t, he said that I would
Today as I graduate, reaching my prime
I’m passing this mirror the very last time
No longer a student, I hold a degree
So what will the mirror allow me to see
I’ve earned my diploma, I have it in hand
But thanks to the mirror, I now understand
Alone was my advocate there in the glass
With one final lesson not given in class
He told me his help, it was done selfishly
That I was the motive, his future is me
