The Mother Wound
Not all mother-daughter relationships are pretty in pink — Chantal Christie Weiss

“The mother wound is the deep emotional pain that stems from being raised by a mother who is emotionally unavailable, neglectful, or abusive.” — Bethany Webster
A tomboy on roller skates,
swinging by the park
running through the forest
terrified of the dark
Breasts bulge and swell,
emotions roar like hell
Home ain’t sweet and home ain’t mothered
Her desolation tags behind,
surviving and scheming
A versatile actress
plays her roles, fruitless games
with loose characters,
toxic tarts and unattached hearts
Face like a top model,
provocative and cool
Struts through the streets,
denied of any fame
Treated like a fool, tears tear her soul
Her life is a catwalk used by horney men
Scent smears her shame
Lipstick smudges silence
Fendi
Armani
CHANEL
Gucci
Unreachable
cast offs, and second-hand shops
Penniless
Drink, drugs, and cigarette butts
Dressed in camouflaged conflicts
A beauty of porcelain skin
Shattered bones
Damaged,
destroyed by a broken and bruised home

This piece hit like a quiet scream — raw, brave, and heartbreakingly honest. The imagery is sharp and unflinching, capturing the pain of growing up in the absence of maternal warmth. Your words echo the silent battles so many carries but never speak of. Thank you for daring to write what others feel but cannot say. 💔🖋️
This was so sad. Sending you lots of love and hugs ❤️
