The Moon Fell into the Sea.

Darkness over took the night forever

The Moon Fell into the Sea.

One quiet night, the sky grew dim,

The stars stood still on the ocean’s rim.

A mournful hush swept through the breeze,

As the moon sank low beneath the trees.

No warning cry, no whispered plea,

Just a pale descent into the sea.

Its silver face, once bold and bright,

Was swallowed whole by the endless night.

The waves rose high, a solemn grave,

To cradle the glow it couldn’t save.

The tides turned black, the currents stilled,

The world grew cold, the heavens chilled.

The sky once lit is darkened, and broke,

The water now the moon’s bright cloak.

For what is broken can’t be fixed no more—

We can’t get our moon from the ocean’s floor.
