The Month Of May Comes In
A promise of summer here at last

May Comes In
May comes in with sunshine,
paints the summer’s sky,
stretches out the morning,
lets the bluebirds fly.
Grass wakes up in glitter,
leaves begin to sway,
petals push through quiet,
soft as yesterday.
Laughter in the lilacs,
breezes warm and shy,
May comes in all golden,
summer’s here for you and I.
It brings the scent of blossoms,
the buzz of bees in air,
a world that starts to shimmer,
with colors bright and rare.
It brings the hum of evening,
the glow of firefly light,
soft footsteps in the clover,
and stars that sing at night.
It brings a breath of promise,
a hush before the heat,
the thrill of something blooming,
where hope and daylight meet.
So make the most of May,
it only lasts us four sweet weeks.
Then in comes our June,
with more pleasures
That summer lovers seek.

a well written poem, great work
True. Mustard, and swallow birds in my place. But windy, rainy this year.
May - It's the beginning, it's hope, it's letting go of the past, and it's a long way ahead!
Such a beautiful poem and well written.
May is quite the month of ups and downs and in the Deep South this year so far been hot, humid and rainy and now even a bit cool. Good job.
Well-wrought! Here in Indy, the weather won't make up its mind. It's been a cold and wet spring! But summer can't be far off!
