The moment I knew
I was being watched
You told me it was true
It wasn't the first time…
I obviously believed you
Terrified
it took me back there
farther even
And suddenly I realized
it has always been you
The reason everything stinks
is because the dog shit
has been on my shoe
All along
but you keep spraying
air freshener
with a mad smile
Saying
it's a fresh new day
Pointing at the clouds
shuffling me along
Thought I'd never see it coming
As I slip on down the hill
Stirring poison in my coffee
every single day
Not this time
today my head
was just too clear
Or maybe your trick only
works once a year
Now my whole life is
coming into a
clear rear view mirror
You are the back seat driver
and my hands
aren't even on the wheel
You forget I know how you
act and what you fear
Every move is
a Calculated set
I watched you stalk your prey
now the defense I mount
is based on
gathered intel
I won't flail around
draw attention to myself
I'll make a quick exit
leave like a thief in the night
It may mean losing
some things I loved
I love my life more
You won't drag me
down into the grave
Goodbye I'm not
looking back
I'm saved
