The Mirage of Riches

A Reflection on the Fragility of Human Pride and the Power of Gratitude.

By Abdul Azim MarzukiPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

How man fears the dearth of treasure,

And forgets the wealth he's given, beyond measure,

From dawn till dusk, he toils and sweats,

Forgetting the Giver of all that he begets.

Man's obsession with the worldly delights,

Blinds him to his Lord's endless sights,

Until he's tested, and his strength does wane,

He returns to his Creator, in repentance and pain.

The arrogance of man is his constant vice,

Thinking himself wise, with knowledge precise,

Yet, the devil's pride was his fall,

Banished from paradise, to forever crawl.

Few are those who offer thanks each day,

Grateful for blessings, sent their way,

For gratitude yields obedience in its wake,

And salvation's path, with eternal grace.

When man submits, his prayers are heard,

And he becomes a servant, humble in his word,

For he fears not, the lack of sustenance,

Knowing his Lord's mercy, needs no chance.

He is given, without even a plea,

Yet, most ungrateful, can't even see,

The abundance of gifts, bestowed on all,

With reward promised, for those who heed His call.
