The Man in the Tower

a poem

By XyePublished 4 years ago 1 min read

There's a man in a tower

in his hand he holds a gun

he puts it to their head

and he tells us all to run

he tells us all to look away

to turn our backs and flee

yet here the people all stand tall

and demand them to be free

But the man in the tower

the man who holds the gun

stands steady in his tower

his will not to be undone

for he cowers in his tower

with no windows nor a door

and so there is no way to reach him

in the tower standing tall

and so the man in the tower

with hands steady on the gun

he pulls the trigger slowly

mocking those who run

and the tears of the people

in the tower and the floor

land softly on the blood-stained ground

and are not heard at all

sad poetry
