The Man in Red

by Jeanette Banda

By J BPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Bundled-up all cozy and warm

It’s snowing outside just missed the storm

We headed out-doors for that holiday walk when I quickly fell not seeing that rock.

With Mom on my left, and dad on my right they swiftly picked me up with all their might.

No one else is out here on this cold chilly night. When a sleigh-bell is heard just out of sight .

“Merry Christmas to all and to all a goodnight” are the words that echoed with such delight.

I rubbed my eyes and I looked again, I can’t believe it, it can’t be him .

There he is that fat man in red, with hair so white all over his head .

He stopped, leaned down, and looked me in the face, then asked me what I wanted with such sweet grace.

So, I whispered in his ear as he jotted it down, he kissed me on the cheek then patted my crown .

He told me to hurry and get on home

so, I ran really fast, when I felt him pass

I opened the door and to my surprise, all I ever wanted was already inside.
