Even When Disability Changes Things

Sitting on this chair,

Looking into your eyes,

I sense tears, pain, and despair,

When you tell me what is on

Your mind,

I felt like I was frozen in time,

And my heart lost, in the wind,

When you told me of the conditions

I could expect in the future,

I frantically searched the internet

And yet, I found nothing about

the problem,

"Retrograde Ataxia?" I asked,

As my mind suddenly panicked

At the thought of losing you,

The only thing I know,

Is, this might change things,

You may not be able to walk,

Talk well,

Or do the things we used to do,

But in my fear,

I promise this;

The love will still be there,

Even when disability changes things.
