The Love Of Our Pets

The love we have for our pets, its hard to explain,

If we are having a bad day, they have a way to ease our pain.

The twist of their head, as they try to understand,

When we pull out the treats, they do the wiggle jiggle dance. (Haha)

They're like children, but they don’t talk back,

Loving us unconditionally, ready to jump on our laps.

They can feel what we feel, and they won't leave us alone,

It's like we pay all the bills, but they control our homes. (Haha)

Our bed is theirs and they just want to feel loved and keep us protected,

If the doorbell rings, they beat us there in a hot second.

Playing with their toys, barking at squirrels,

Sometimes it feels like we're living in their world.

The cuddles, the licks, the "I want my tummy rubbed",

Until it's time to take a bath, they don't want to be scrubbed.

They're like humans with fur, some can almost talk,

You take them out to exercise, but it's us they seem to walk. (LOL)

I wish their lifespan was longer like ours,

But that is wishful thinking and I have no superpowers.

I guess I won't complain, because by God it was intended,

but if I had a wish, their lives would definitely be extended.

The car rides with their tongue hanging and smelling the fresh air,

As we look in the rearview mirror, we are happy to see them there.

They're definitely the boss of us, and we happily allow them to be,

When we put our key in the door, its the first face we'll always see!
