The Lost Soul's Journey Home
The story of a lost soul finding the true meaning of home.

As I wander, lost, and all alone
Searching for a place to call home
I find a fleeting glimpse of happiness
Somewhere I can call my true nest
I bunker down and make some friends
Yet before long, the happiness ends
Itchy feet and a lost soul
I long to escape this home, this hole
Like a bird trapped in a cage
The fire inside me grows with fear, with rage
I can’t see, I can’t breathe
I’m suffocating, I long to leave
I fly away, I spread my wings
So liberating, yet the goodbye stings
The search for home begins again
But the price we must pay for freedom is pain
A nomad at heart in a world full of homes
Is it my destiny to be alone?
I climb the highest mountain, brimming with ice and snow
Unsure if this is home, or which way I need to go
I sail the seven seas, through wind and rain and shine
But cannot seem to find a home that I can truly call mine
I visit bustling cities, full of life and zest
Yet more than ever, here, I am a lost soul with no nest
I find an island paradise, perfection it would seem
The whitest sands, the bluest ocean, the most beautiful sunset ever seen
The perfect place, pristine and free
Yet still not home, how can this be?
After searching the planet for a home
Across bustling lands and lands remote
I conclude that home is neither hot nor cold
Neither bustling, remote, new or old
It resides in an organ deep inside
Hidden away in a place it can hide
It cannot be seen yet it shines so bright
It sings and it dances with all of its might
I listen in, I go deep within
And now I hear its sound and rhythm
Home is where the heart is, and you are already here
Home is where the heart is, there is nothing to fear
