The Looking Glass

a love poem

By Shana MariePublished 4 years ago 1 min read

The years have not always been kind

A romantic soul with the blues written too often

Upon the telltale lines of an otherwise youthful face.

The looking glass has reflected crushed dreams

Love lost and a heart broken many times

In the years gone past

Though seemingly just a wisp of a girl, gentle and kind

If one were to look closely enough

Inner strength and courage would be revealed

Abused, deceived and broken in the past perhaps

The light of hope is not lost to her, though occasionally dim...

A spark of stubborn defiance dares love to try again

Happy surprise lights her eyes as a pair, brown and filled with love, gaze down upon her,

In the reflection of her looking glass....
