In the quiet of my lonely life,
I find solace in the stillness,
A peacefulness amidst the strife,
A moment to reflect and witness.
Each day unfolds with gentle grace,
A chance to learn and grow,
In solitude, I find my place,
A seed of wisdom starts to sow.
Though loneliness may cast its shadow,
I embrace the silence and the space,
For in this solitude, I know,
I find a deeper sense of grace.
So, in my lonely life, I find,
A richness that is all my own,
A treasure trove within my mind,
A place where I am fully known.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
