The heat was stifling, a suffocating embrace
That wrapped the city in its burning grace
The sun beat down, relentless in its might
Baking the concrete 'til it shimmered in the light
A dark cloud loomed on the distant horizon
An ominous portent, a harbinger of woe
As it drew near, the sky turned sickly green
And lightning danced through the clouds, a hellish scene
The wind began to blow, a fierce and violent gale
Tearing through the streets and buildings, without fail
The people huddled, seeking shelter from the storm
As the ground shook and buckled, a terrible form
Amidst the chaos, a lone figure stood
Gazing out at the destruction with a heavy heart and troubled mood
He knew the cause of this disaster, this great upheaval and change
It was something he had warned of, something he had tried to arrange
The climate had shifted, there was no turning back
The world they knew was gone, consumed by the rising sea and the raging attacks
And as he watched the chaos, he knew it was only a matter of time
Before they all fell victim, consumed by the very forces they had defined
He turned and walked through the rubble, his steps heavy with despair
He had tried to warn them, to make them see, to show them the error of their ways
But they had ignored him, dismissing his words as the ramblings of the mad
And now, as he looked at the destruction, he knew he had been right all along
He walked, not knowing what the future held
Would they rebuild, create a new world from the old?
Or would they suffer, forever struggling to survive
In a harsh and unforgiving world that had not thrived?
He didn't know the answer, but he knew he couldn't give up the fight
He had to keep trying, to find a way to make things right
It wouldn't be easy, but he knew it was the only way
To save the world from the ravages of climate change, come what may.
