The Locksmith Legend

Scary but true, he could be watching me and you.

The Locksmith Legend

They said he carried the keys of night

a ring so heavy it bent his hand

each one cold with a different tale

each one calling for a different door

No one saw the house he lived in

no one knew where he took his rest

some swore he walked only in rain

his coat dripping as if from the sea

He could open what should be sealed forever

and lock away what should never be shut

those who met him did not speak again

or spoke only in whispers no one understood

It is said he trades in promises

binding them in metal and teeth

turning them in locks that breathe

until you hear the click in the dark
