My burdens weigh heavy and cold,
Like the frozen peaks above.
Impassible – unyielding – and cruel.
The climb was meant to prepare me,
For the challenges that have yet to come.
The trials – tribulations – and woe.
But now I am stuck in the twilight,
As the last of the shadows disappear.
Frozen by a sight that unsettles my nerves,
And embodies all of my fears.
Beauty - unrivaled – and enduring.
Just like her…
With the sun’s kiss the flower bloomed before my eyes,
Its petals stretching wide like open arms.
Inviting - embracing – and comforting.
My fingers trace it with a tender touch,
And streaks glow with violet charms.
It feels – responds – and listens.
Rachel, I whispered, and the heat of my breath
Must have warmed the flower’s soul.
For its incandescent radiance flourished
And prepaid the ferryman’s toll.
With hope – love – and grace.
Just like her…
Tears fall unbidden,
Through cracks in my foundational strife.
Broken – release – long overdue.
They fall upon the listening flower,
My sorrow and grief sustaining its life.
Healing – growth – and purpose.
I shall climb no more this day,
Instead I shall stay here and reminisce.
And think back to every moment
That began from her tender kiss.
Forgiveness - redemption - and new beginnings.
Just like her.
For she is the reason I shall yet endure.
