The Lights
they don't turn off when i shut my eyes

the lights are behind me
yet still i let them blind me
and my past it to is behind me
but no longer will it bind me
the lessons that i learnt
weren't worth what i paid
and by the time i realised
i realised i got played
this is not a warning, merely a guide
a clue to you given by the clueless
this is not a how to or a silly little ride
it’s something exponentially more useless
the sighs i hear right there behind me
there will always be something there to remind me
a modest mantra of unwind and be free
and the lights that are behind me, still blind me

This is how I often feel about the memories that I'm trying to suppress. Loved your poem!
You have a liquid verse that flows like a mercurial pond. Great job.
