The lightning came like a curse

Fear gripped the earth

The lightning came like a curse

The lightning came like a curse

cracking the sky with sudden force

a jagged scar that tore the night

and left the world caught in its fright

No warning bell, no whispered sign

just fire split the dark in time

it struck the ground, it shook the air

and left behind a cold despair

The rain followed like broken glass

each drop a shard to cut and pass

the thunder roared without remorse

a wild, relentless, jagged course

We stood beneath the fractured sky

eyes wide with fear, no place to hide

and in that storm we understood

how close we live to fierce and good

The lightning came like a curse

but in its flash, the universe

revealed the edge of night and day

a moment caught, then swept away

This is quite the description of a severe thunderstorm you wrote about. Good job and I could see the storm.
