The Light They Took
Not every loss comes with noise

They didn’t break me
with fists or fire.
They did it
with absence.
With silence
that echoed
through every room
I stood in.
They once
held my light
in their hands.
I gave it
without fear.
That was my mistake.
Because when they left,
they took
more than memories.
They took
the parts of me
that trusted
too easily.
Now I wake up
and forget
how to smile
without effort.
I speak less.
Not because
I have no voice
just no one
to speak to.
And the mirror?
It reflects
a stranger
still waiting
to feel seen.
Not every heartbreak
is loud.
Some slip
into your life
like fog
and stay
forever.
