Smooth as the oil that anointed his head
Was the touch of his hand on the sick and the dead.
Smooth as the water that baptized him
Was the forgiveness he offered to all.
Smooth as the bread and the fish that he fed to the multitudes
Was the love that he poured out for all people.
Smooth as the metal that pierced his hands and feet
Was the pain that he endured for our salvation.
Smooth as the carpenter's words that he spoke
Was the wisdom that he shared with the world.
Smooth as the two-edged sword of his tongue
Was the truth that he proclaimed.
Smooth as the light of heaven that he entered
Was the hope that he brought to the world.
He arises, he lives, he slides through the light,
Because he is the light.
